Ladle Shroud

Ladle Shroud (LS) is a critical component in continuous casting of steel for flow of liquid steel from Ladle to Tundish.

Ladle Shroud effectively prevents re-oxidation of steel, reduces splashing and turbulence in the tundish and helps to control Nitrogen pick-up and reduce inclusions.

Ladle Shrouds with inert gas purging and sealing gaskets effectively makes an air tight connection with Collector Nozzle by displacing air ingress through the junction.

We offer special design high throughput ladle shrouds for long sequence casting;

  • Submerged Opening
  • Anti-oxidation and anti-sticking cup area
  • Reinforcing inner wall liner
  • Customized gas purging
  • Corrosion resistant slag zone
  • Reusable type
  • Can-less shroud

Bell Shape & Reverse Taper

Bell Shape & Reverse Taper design Ladle Shrouds are used for submerged opening below metal level in the tundish and are most effective in preventing re-oxidation of steel.

These special shroud designs reduce turbulence of metal bath at the beginning of the casting, lowers inclusion levels and removes any chance of blow back at the start of casting.

Bell Shape & Reverse Taper design Ladle Shrouds are critical to quality of special steel grades that are sensitive to Nitrogen pick-up and inclusion control.

Argon Purging in Ladle Shrouds

Depending on customer requirement ladle shrouds with different types of inert gas purging arrangements are designed that effectively makes an air tight connection with Collector Nozzle by displacing the air ingress through the junction.

Ladle Shroud Manipulator

Shroud Tube Manipulator (MSTM) is a safe and reliable method of positioning the ladle shroud under the collector nozzle, which is customized to suit steel plant applications. Bespoke Ladle shroud manipulator designs are available with with hydraulic and pneumatic options.

  • Full automatic (MSTM – V2)
  • Semi – automatic (MSTM – V1)

The MSTM design for each customer is carefully developed by an experienced technical team involving a site survey and consultation with the steel plant.
