Our Journey
The foundations of the IFGL legacy were laid back in 1979 with the establishment of Indo Flogates. Since then, the business has grown from one strength to another and, today, is a globally recognized entity in the refractories industry. Listed below are the key milestones in our exciting journey.
Legacy Milestones
1979
Indo Flogates was established in collaboration with Flogates Ltd, UK, as the exclusive licensee of Flocon Slide Gate Systems and Refractories in the Indian market.
1983
Manufacturing plant established in Kalunga, Odisha, making us the first company in India to manufacture Slide Gate Systems.
1992
IFGL Refractories Limited was established to manufacture ISO-certified products in collaboration with Harima Ceramics Corporation, the first company to produce ISO-certified products in India.
2005
We acquired Monocon International Refractories, expanding our manufacturing footprint in the UK, China, and the USA.
2008
We acquired Hofmann Ceramic GMBH and ventured into the foundry sector, with manufacturing units in Germany.
2010
We acquired E.I. Ceramics LLC in the USA to expand our ISO product lines capability.
2011
Our second domestic manufacturing unit was established in the Kandla SEZ (Special Economic Zone) in Gujarat, India. It is a 100% export-oriented unit, focusing on ISO products, Monolithics, and precast shaped products.
2021
The new greenfield production unit was inaugurated in Visakhapatnam, India. This unit focuses on new and innovative products to meet the evolving buyer’s requirements of the future.
2023
Sheffield Refractories Limited (SRL) has been acquired by Monocon, our wholly owned UK subsidiary. The combination of extensive industry experience and technology packages is set to add further value to our Group.
2023
Inauguration of state-of-the-art Research Centre at Kalunga, India Driving innovation with advanced R&D for next-gen refractories solutions.
2024
IFGLMRL, A JV Company formed between IFGL Refractories Ltd. & Marvels International Group (MIG) - Marvels Refractories (MRL)
2024
A proud milestone as we mark our entry into the non-ferrous segment with the launch of our new unit at Wankaner, Gujarat.
