Reheating Furnace Solutions

A reheating furnace is used to reheat semi-finished steel, which is shaped in the hot rolling mill. Our customised refractory solutions for reheating furnaces are energy saving and also easy to apply which reduces furnace repair downtime.

Refractory solutions available for different reheat furnace designs,

  • Walking beam / walking hearth furnace
  • Pusher-type furnace
  • Rotary hearth furnace
  • Batch-type furnace

Product range:

  • Precast Hearth and Skid blocks (MonoBloc)
  • Precast Skid Pipe Cladding
  • Burner Blocks
  • Lightweight Alumina Spray

Precast Hearth and Skid Blocks

MonoBloc Hearth and Skid Tiles are modern alternative to fusion cast hearth and skid blocks for reheat furnace applications. The blocks are manufactured using Monocon’s Activated Gel Casting technology (AGC) which uses high purity sol-gel technology. MonoBloc has high hot strength and excellent abrasion resistance.

Features:

  • Increased abrasion and scale resistance.
  • Best option for regularly thermal cycling furnaces.
  • Longer lifespan than Fusion Cast Blocks.

Burner Blocks

Pre-shaped refractory burner blocks play an important role in reheating furnaces operation and melt shops production since they are responsible for heating the billets/plates so that they reach the temperature required for lamination.

Burner blocks are manufactured with Activated Gel Casting technology (AGC) or Conventional Castables.

Precast Skid Pipe Cladding

Low density insulating shells from microporous calcium aluminate material

  • Highly resistant to mill scale
  • Heat loss through leg and beam typically reduced by ~50% compared to standard castable/fibre installation or dense blocks

Easy and quick installation – reduced downtime compared with cast in-situ

Interlocking ceramic shells with no requirement for welding.

  • Fibre layer between shell and tubes allows for tube distortion and moderate insulation.
  • Quick and easy installation.
