EAF Refractories

Precast Roof

In the Electric arc furnace (EAF) scrap metal is melted using an electrical and chemical process. This is a very high energy process and the function of the refractory Precast Roof to enclose the furnace top to minimize metal splashing and energy loses. Higher precast roof life is very desirable for safe and energy economical furnace operation. IFGL provides customized design  and quality based on customer requirement.
Benefit
  • Excellent corrosion and scouring resistance of iron & steel
  • Easy installation and long life

Delta Castable

IFGL offers specialty castable materials and heating system for delta roof in-situ casting at steel melting shop. With specified quality selection and proper dry out desired delta roof life can be achieved. Both self-flow castables and low-cement castables are manufactured by us.
Benefit
  • Good thermal shock resistance
  • Volume stability & Longer life
  • Better corrosion resistance

Hearth Ramming Mass

Magnesia-calcium base EAF hearth dry ramming mass is binding with inorganic binders which is hardened by heating at higher temperature. Which can meet the requirements of different types of steel smelting with chemical stability and abrasion-resistance in a safer and economical way.
Benefit
  • On the face in contact with liquid metal there is a dense sintered layer where tightness of liquid metal is quite perfect
  • Thermal conductivity is lower than other refractoriness so the Thermal loses are less than any other kind of refractory.
  • Good resistance to temperature change.

Tap hole ramming mass

In order to prevent external coating, surface erosion and oxidation/corrosion, taphole ramming mass can be used as a highly stable refractory lining. Following the tapping process, the ramming mass can be used to secure the top of the furnace. Our taphole ramming mass has excellent resilience at elevated temperatures, and comes with complete safety assurance.

Gunning Mass

Dead-burnt magnesite with very high MgO content (and low amounts of silica residue) is used to create the specialised gunning mass refractories. Apart from minimising rebound losses and shrinkage, our gunning mass is also instrumental in extending the service life & usability of other refractory materials. Since there is no shuttering, process downtimes are reduced significantly too. The gunning products we offer can be used for fresh refractory lining as well as relining.
Benefit
  • High bonding strength, less shrinkage.
  • High adhesion rate & less rebound loss.
  • Good erosion resistance, good slag resistance.

Fettling Mass

The pre-tested and quality-assured fettling mass have top-notch adhesion properties, along with easy casing and powerful wear-resistance. Designed to systematically patch holes or gaps in the monolithic bottom of the vessel, our fettling material is completely non-toxic – and are prepared as per the technical requirements. The fettling mass is extremely important for proper maintenance of Electric arc furnace (EAF).
Benefit
  • High bonding strength, less shrinkage.
  • Good adhesion with the existing lining
  • Good erosion resistance, good slag resistance.
