The Monoblock Stopper (MBS) is an iso-statically pressed refractory component used to regulate the flow of steel from the tundish to the mould. Its advanced design helps maintain consistent mould levels, prevents vortex formation, and minimises inclusions—ensuring high-quality steel output.

Features

  • Optimised Geometry: Tailored designs to meet specific operational and metallurgical requirements.
  • Stopper Tip Quality: Material selection depends on the steelmaking process. Options include Alumina Carbon, Magnesia Carbon, or Spinel Carbon compositions for optimal performance and compatibility.
  • Stopper Nose Design: Multi-radial and special profile noses ensure precise flow control into the mould, delivering stable casting performance.
  • Gas Purging Arrangement: Two options—direct argon injection or a permeable plug at the stopper nose. The permeable plug provides regulated permeability for constant back pressure.
  • Slag Zone Reinforcement: Special mix reinforcement in the slag zone enhances durability during long casting sequences.

Benefits

  • Durability: Reinforced slag zones and erosion-resistant nose designs extend service life.
  • Operational Efficiency: Supports long casting sequences with minimal downtime.

Application

  • Flow Control in Continuous Casting: Regulates the transfer of molten steel from tundish to mould.
