Slag Dart Refractories

Darts float at the metal-slag interface in the BOF and are designed to enter the taphole and restrict the amount of slag exiting the vessel.
Effective operation is reliant upon the design characteristics of the slag dart and the accurate calibration of the slag control dart machine.

Pre Tap Plugs
Pre tap plugs are used to stop the initial flush of slag at the onset of tapping from Basic Oxygen Furnace (BOF Converter). These plugs are inserted into the taphole from the outside of the vessel using an applicator pole after scrap has been charged and before molten iron is added into the BOF.
Monocon pre-tap plug solution prevent around 15% of slag carryover from BOF to Ladle.
