BOF Tap hole is a critical area that endures severe operating conditions (abrasion, corrosion and thermal shock) during converter operation & tapping. For safe and long furnace life IFGL provides high purity sea water magnesia based ramming and gunning masses which protect the taphole surrounding area. The tap hole mass forms an impervious monolithic lining between the taphole block and sleeve.
